Miguel Maestre

The Living Room’s egg crackin’, whisk snatchin’ Spaniard, Miguel Maestre, is one bull you can’t grab by the horns.

To say Miguel is ‘high-energy’ would be a severe understatement. So much so, that we are unsure how he manages to sit still on the couch each Friday night when he co-hosts The Living Room

At 27 years old, Miguel was Head Chef of Tony Bilson’s Bistro, Number One. He then went on to make his mark on the local cooking scene by opening the biggest Spanish restaurant in Australia, El Toro Loco.

His love of fresh and seasonal produce along with his electric crowd wrangling skills see him as a regular in the country’s top food festivals including Good Food & Wine Show and Regional Flavours.

The Spaniard was awarded The Order of Civil Merits by His Majesty The King of Spain for his service to the nation for the benefit of Spain in the Australian media.

With two best-selling Spanish cookbooks Miguel’s Tapas and Spanish Cooking under his belt, Miguel is committed to setting Australian’s up with sexy Spanish dishes. His Maestre Family Food brand is the biggest importer of Spanish food in Australia, with products widely available in Woolworths.

Miguel and his co-hosts have built a diamond-strong bond. When his friend and co-host Barry Du Bois was diagnosed with cancer, Miguel would often make Barry delicious meals to sooth the soul. Out of this experience, the two co-authored Life Force, an inspiring story of health, overcoming the curveballs life throws and friendship.

In 2019, the flamenco aficionado laced up his dancing shoes for 10’s Dancing With The Stars. In a shock exit that deeply rocked the Spaniard and brought Amanda Keller to tears, Miguel was the first star eliminated.

In 2020, Miguel stampeded onto I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Outta Here! where he won the hearts of viewers and became King of the jungle.
